Question Is honey bad for dogs?

I gave Nalla a bit of honey last night in her kong because she doesnt seem to like peanut butter. She loved the honey even though there was just a very small amount on there. Is honey bad for dogs?

Alittle bit is OK. I give Josie some in her kong too. Moderation is the key

Not good, but not bad. I have used honey to keep sugar levels up and boost energy.
    Sparingly though. That is key.
As for giving as a treat, no I dont think I would give it to her.

Honey is mother natures multi vitiman. My boys get 1 table spoon each a day and one of my dearest friends has an Irish terrier who was diginosed with a spleen tumor 1 year ago today she was told to go home and wait for him to die in the next week. She started giving him a table spoon of honey a day and one year later they can't find a thing wrong with him. I don't thing the honey cured him, but I do believe it helped a lot.

Honey is also wonderful for healing small cuts and scrapes.

Wow so many diffrent opinions on this....I dont know what to do. The honey I gave her didnt seem to upset her...ya she got a very small amount, but....hummm maybe I will give her a little bit more and see how she does...it really made the kong intresting for her, it is the only time she really licked it.

The only thing you have to be careful about when giving honey is reactions. Just like in humans it can cause a reaction in dogs. So only give a little (like you did) and make sure she's OK. If she is you can safely carry on!

I just went home for lunch to let both Nalla and Noodle out. I put Nalla back in her crate with a old marrow bone stuffed with a milk bone and a bit of honey....she seems to really like the honey!!! I will keep giving it to her if it keeps her happy.
